Kashi Vishwanath Dham is also known as Visheshwar Dham. It is said in the Puranas that the creation of creation began with Kashi only. Kashi Vishwanath is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Jyotirlinga. This Jyotirling Kashi is situated in the heart of the city. Hence the name of this temple is Kashi Vishwanath.
The modern name of Kashi is Varanasi. Varanasi is situated on the banks of River Ganga. There are many ghats along the banks of the Ganges. Each ghat has its own historical significance.

Legend of Kashi Vishwanath Temple:
When Shiva and Parvati were married, they wanted to live on the proven area except Kailash Mountains.
Then he chose Kashi to live. Emperor Devodas used to rule there at that time. When Shivaji and Parvati Ji came to Kashi and settled down, this thing became very sad by the Emperor Devodas. They feared to lose their palace. Fear of this, Emperor Devodas has done penance of Brahma ji. And he asked for the boon that the deities were living in their Devlok and only the people were living on the earth.
Brahma ji gave this boon to Emperor Devdas. Due to this, Shivaji and Parvati had to go to Kailash Mountain, leaving Kashi. Because of this, Shiva became very sad.
He sent 64 Yoginya to remove Emperor Devdas. The king installed them on this wharf.
After this Shankar ji sent the sun, but Surya ji settled here in his 12 forms.
After this here Brahma ji came. He sacrificed 10 Ashwamedh Yagans with the help of king Devodas and that too was settled.
In the end, Lord Vishnu came here in the form of Brahman to fulfill the desire of Lord Shankar. He taught knowledge to Devodas. Then Devodas invited Shankarji to live in Kashi. After this lord Shiva and mother Parvati came back in kashi and settled here.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is located in Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh. To go to Kashi Vishwanath temple, you will have to go to Varanasi Junction. Direct trains run from all major cities to Varanasi. From any corner of India, you can easily go to Varanasi.
After reaching Varanasi junction, you can go to Kashi Vishwanath temple with the help of bus or auto from there. The distance of the Kashi Vishwanath temple from Varanasi junction is about 4.5 km.
It takes about 20 minutes to go from Varanasi Junction to Kashi Vishwanath. Visiting time and worship time in the Kashi Vishwanath temple from 3:00 am to 11:00 pm.
