Vat Savitri Vrat:

This year,Vat Savitri vratis being celebrated on 30 May 2024. On the day of Vat Savitri, Savitri protected her husband Satyavan’s life from Yamraj. In Hinduism, the festival of Vat Savitri is an important festival of fortunate women.

It is believed that by fasting Vat Savitri Vrat, husband brings longevity. According to the Puranas, Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh reside in the banyan tree. In this fast, women walking around the banyan tree tied the Raksha Sutra around the banyan tree and wished her husband’s long life.

In Vat Savitri Vrat, both ‘Vat’ and ‘Savitri’ have been considered of special importance. Like Peepal, Vat or Banyan tree also has special significance.

When is Vat Savitri Vrat 2024?

This year, Vat Savitri Vrat will be celebrated on 30 May 2024. On this day women circumambulate the banyan tree. Raw cotton is wrapped in a banyan tree seven times while doing the rounds.

On 29 May, the new moon will start from 57 minutes on 01 and on 30 May, the new moon will be 20 minutes till 04 in the evening. The fast will be observed on June 11.

Vat Savitri Vrat Puja Method:

For the worship of Vat Savitri Vrat, seven kinds of grains are kept in a basket which is covered with two pieces of red cloth.

In another bamboo basket, the statue of mother Savitri is kept.

Women offer sindur, akshat, by offering water in the banyan tree.

Then the banyan tree is tied with a thread of cotton and seven rounds of it are made and the prasad of gram jaggery is distributed.

After this, the women listen to Vat savitri vrat katha.
